Our Legacy
Since its establishment in 1997, People's Endeavour for Social Changes (PESCH) has emerged as a grassroots movement dedicated to empowering marginalized and tribal communities in the North East region of India. With an unwavering commitment to justice, dignity, and sustainability, PESCH has built a legacy rooted in participatory development, indigenous knowledge, and systemic change.
Championing Indigenous Livelihoods
PESCH has played a pioneering role in promoting sustainable livelihood models grounded in local contexts — Sloping Agricultural Land Technology (SALT), livestock banks (piggery, goatery, country chicken), community-managed kitchen gardens and nurseries, and value addition to local produce like GI-tagged Tamenglong Orange and Sibilong Naga Chilli. This has helped hundreds of farming families increase their food security, incomes, and climate resilience.
Institutional Building and Women Empowerment
A core pillar of PESCH's legacy lies in the empowerment of women and youth through the formation and strengthening of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and Village Level Federations, youth clubs and skill development programs, and leadership training, financial literacy and collective entrepreneurship. These grassroots institutions have fostered self-reliance and ensured a greater role for women and youth in village governance and development planning.
